Hotel service specialists will be trained in Polotsk
Specialists in hotel service will be trained in the Vitebsk region. The Polotsk College of Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Masherov is the first educational institution in the region to open training in the new specialty, announced the director of this educational institution, Tatyana Polushkina.
According to her, despite the difficult situation due to the coronavirus pandemic, the analysis conducted shows a high demand for qualified specialists in the hotel business. "There is a maximum demand for specialists in public catering, guest reception and accommodation services, and housekeeping services. According to the results of marketing research, the most in-demand positions in this field are advertising manager and administrator. Employers are most interested in hiring cooks, waiters, and maids. Therefore, starting this year, we are opening a new specialty for training hotel service specialists based on general basic education (budgetary form of study) for the service of the hotel industry in the Vitebsk region," the director stated.
In the future, the college plans to integrate the educational process with Vitebsk State University in the specialty "Linguistic Support for Intercultural Communications (Foreign Economic Relations)".
Tatyana Polushkina also noted that the hotel business in the Vitebsk region is mainly concentrated in Vitebsk, Polotsk, and Novopolotsk – traditional centers of excursion and business tourism. Modern hotel complexes and hotels operate in these regions, offering decent service thanks to modern infrastructure with comfortable business and conference centers, restaurants, bars, and fitness rooms. At the same time, the demand for services of mini-hotels and boutique hotels has recently increased.
