Sports ice complexes will appear in three small towns of the Vitebsk region in 2010

November 28, Orsha / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Sports ice complexes will appear in Glubokoye, Novolukoml and Lepel in 2010. Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets announced these plans to journalists today. He took part in the work of the headquarters for the construction of the Ice Arena in Orsha, BELTA correspondent reports. The construction of such sports and entertainment complexes is justified, believes Alexander Kosinets. "It is necessary to develop mass sports and physical culture, to distract young people from bad habits, to instill a culture of a healthy lifestyle," the official stressed. According to the governor, the region lacks sports infrastructure facilities. Over the past 15 years, only the Ice Palace and the Central Sports Complex have been built in Vitebsk. Residents of district centers and small towns experience a shortage of sports infrastructure facilities. For physical education, there are only school sports halls. According to Alexander Kosinets, within the next five years, it is necessary to build 11 sports and recreation complexes in district centers and small towns. In addition, the courtyards of microdistricts with mass development in all cities of the region should be prepared for amateur sports. The construction of a sports and entertainment complex in Orsha began in October of this year. The palace will be a combined cylinder and an elliptical two-story stylobate. They will house a sports arena and stands for 3.5 thousand spectators, sports and training halls, a sauna, bowling, billiards, a choreography hall, and a press center. In addition to sports competitions, cultural and entertainment events can be held here. The construction area is 12.1 thousand sq.m, the estimated cost in 2006 prices is more than Br78 billion. The work is financed by the regional budget and the Belarusian Railway. The completion of construction is scheduled for mid-2011. -0-
