On Victory Square in Vitebsk on May 3, hundreds of young citizens gathered to participate in a fun festival dedicated to World Clown Therapy Day – "Red Nose Day".

Volunteers of the regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society did their best to ensure as many smiles as possible on this day. The children, painted with bright colors and with the obligatory red spot on the tip of their noses, fought with strange robots, shot at "angry birds", blew soap bubbles, wove bracelets, and took pictures with funny fairy-tale characters.

As a reward for their activity, the children received special stamps on their hands and ran for a gift – a balloon.

Interactive entertainment areas and fun contests with prizes were organized by clowns from the volunteer group "Doctor Heal-Me-Not", youth music groups, and actors from the "Lyalka" theater. Magic tricks and numerous stunts, master classes in juggling and body art, pony and horse rides – all for the little heroes of the day.

The organizers explained: "This is not just a holiday. Childhood happens only once in a lifetime, and therefore we want to draw attention to the problems of children. That is why, in parallel, money is being collected for children with disabilities and developmental disorders who are currently in social institutions."

Interestingly, there are many people who wish to become volunteers of the "Doctor Heal-Me-Not" group in the Vitebsk region. This includes schoolchildren, students, and older people. Hospital clowns have been working in Vitebsk for about five years. They visit hospital wards in the city's medical institutions and travel to children's institutions in all regions of the province. Art and play therapy, as well as clowning, are becoming an important link in providing psychological assistance and accelerating the recovery process for children.
