Five renovated facilities were opened in Polotsk during the City Day celebrations
— We have tried to do everything possible, — noted the First Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Sergey Leychenko, — to create another cozy recreation area in the center of Polotsk, where both adults and children will gladly spend their free time. A huge amount of work has indeed been done here, and many thanks to everyone who participated in it.
The estimated cost of the facility, as explained by the Director of the Polotsk Capital Construction Department, Galina Belskaya, amounted to 1 million 285 thousand rubles. Financing was carried out through district funds with the support of the regional budget. The Polotsk company "ViltTorgServis" LLC acted as the general contractor.
The square is paved with two-color tiles, new benches, urns, and small architectural forms have been installed, retaining walls have been equipped, flower beds have been created, and lighting has been replaced. However, the visible part of the transformations is only a third of the total scope of work. The rest is hidden underground. This includes the complete replacement and modernization of engineering communications and, of course, the internal equipment of the new light-and-music fountain – the main decoration of the square.
It is called a flat, or dry, fountain because it lacks the usual pool basin. Water jets shoot directly from the ground, fall onto the pavement, and drain through grates into an underground reservoir with a capacity of 16 tons. There, the water undergoes special purification and returns to the surface.
At the fountain, according to specialists from Minsk's ODO "Tekhinvestservis," invited for the installation and commissioning of complex equipment, there are 18 nozzles and three circuits. The height of the central foam jet reaches 5.5 m, the nozzles of the inner circuit rotate and also form a foam pattern. The control system is fully automated. The illumination is programmed to turn on half an hour after astronomical sunset.
Another attraction of the square is a decorative and artistic composition in the form of an ancient ship sailing "from the Varangians to the Greeks." The entire complex of work, from sketches to implementation, was carried out by specialists from Polotsk's OOO "TVEN" under the leadership of Vyacheslav Konkov. This same enterprise also manufactured other metal products with elements of artistic forging.
Other significant facilities were opened in Polotsk for City Day. For example, at the base of Secondary School No. 15, reorganized into a unified complex with the adjacent kindergarten, two new groups for infants and preschoolers have been equipped. 75 thousand rubles were spent on renovation work, furniture, and modern equipment, and the number of places for children increased by 40.
In addition, after moving to renovated premises, the conditions for conducting classes in the day care department for elderly citizens of the Polotsk Territorial Center for Social Services have improved. In the central city hospital, the gynecology department has undergone major repairs, and a mammography room has been equipped in the oncology dispensary for screening examinations to detect breast cancer in its early stages. The economic potential of the city continues to be strengthened by the employees of OAO "Polotsk-Steklovolokno," where the implementation of an innovative project to modernize glass melting furnace No. 9 in workshop No. 6 has been completed, which will improve product quality and reduce fuel and energy consumption.
