The average grain yield in the Vitebsk region is projected to be 30-40 centners per hectare
July 22, Dokshytsy District / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The average yield of grain crops in the Vitebsk region this year is projected to be 30-40 centners per hectare, the chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, told a BELTA correspondent.
In his opinion, the main task of farmers now is to minimize grain losses and harvest the crops in the shortest possible time. By July 28, the region plans to complete the harvesting of winter crops, and by August 15, spring grain crops.
The working day of machine operators during the harvest season is extended to 24 hours. Workers are provided with hot meals and medical assistance.
Along with harvesting grain crops, the region is carrying out the second mowing of grasses. Given the current weather conditions, these works must be completed promptly, ensuring 21 feed units of grass and 27 feed units of corn per conventional head of cattle.
"Farms are fully equipped with machinery and fuel and lubricants; the issue now is the organization of personnel work on the ground," Alexander Kosinets believes.
