The term for cashing "Property" checks has been extended in Belarus until June 30, 2013
May 20, Minsk / Liliya Krapivina - BELTA/. The circulation period of personal privatization checks "Imushchestvo" has been extended in Belarus until June 30, 2013. This decision was made by Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 749, the State Property Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
This resolution comes into force on July 1, 2010. At the same time, Resolution of the Council of Ministers of Belarus of June 29, 2007 No. 852 "On the circulation periods of personal privatization checks "Imushchestvo", according to which "Imushchestvo" checks are in circulation until June 30, 2010, has been declared invalid.
As previously reported, only 46% of citizens who received these checks exercised their right to receive a share of property for the checks. In total, 4.6 million Belarusian citizens hold checks. At the same time, 2 million Belarusians did not collect their checks and did not receive them.
The issuance of "Imushchestvo" checks began in April 1994. In the early years, exchanges of checks for shares were actively carried out, and state property was redeemed. Since the early 2000s, the pace of exchange has slowed down. The exchange intensified somewhat this year, given that the process was supposed to end on June 30. However, taking into account internal and external (impact of the crisis) factors, the state cannot today undertake the obligation to redeem "Imushchestvo" checks. Meanwhile, the legislation provides for the redemption of unused checks. Therefore, the State Property Committee initiated the extension of the validity and circulation period of the checks until June 30, 2013. -0-
