The deadlines for the autumn conscription into the border service bodies of Belarus will be shifted this year

September 21, Minsk /Corr. BELTA/. The dates for the autumn conscription into the border service of Belarus will be shifted this year, the press center of the State Border Committee (GBC) informed a BELTA correspondent. "The peculiarity of this year's autumn conscription campaign is that it will take place later," the committee reported. This is due to the upcoming Ice Hockey World Championship, which is scheduled for 2014. It is today's conscripts who will ensure security at the border during this time. To avoid the championship coinciding with the "change of shifts" between conscriptions, it was decided to move the dates. However, specific dates have not yet been determined. In any case, representatives of border groups and detachments will soon begin work in military commissariats across Belarus. "Psychologists and doctors will have to select the best of the best," the GBC explained. The department added that according to information from the regions, the vast majority of conscripts are eager to serve. At the same time, the committee noted that desire alone is not always enough, as the selection for the border service is the strictest: "Those who have had problems with the law, even for administrative offenses, will definitely not serve on the border." In addition, the GBC reminded that for young men who wish to connect their lives with the border more thoroughly, the doors of the Institute of the Border Service are open. Young men who have proven themselves during their compulsory service will be eligible for admission to the institute without competition. -0-
