The deadlines for the investigation into the mass death of deer in the Dokshitsky district have been extended again
The investigation into the mass death of deer in the Dokshytsy district has been extended again, the head of the Dokshytsy District Department of Internal Affairs, Maryan Gigola, informed a BELTA correspondent today.
The Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has extended the investigation into the mass death of European deer in the Dokshytsy district until March 3 due to the fact that the examination has not been completed. It is being conducted by the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine. According to Maryan Gogol, only after the specialists' conclusion will it be possible to talk about the possible initiation of a criminal or administrative case.
So far, law enforcement agencies have no grounds to claim that the deer were poisoned. The most likely causes of death of the animals they cite are improper feeding, temperature fluctuations, and a possible viral disease. The preliminary amount of damage is estimated at Br76.4 million.
As reported earlier, more than 40 European deer died in the BOOR hunting farm of the Dokshytsy district at the end of 2012. The dead deer were discovered by employees of the hunting farm. Police officers and the inter-district inspectorate for the protection of fauna and flora were immediately called to the scene.
Currently, about 30 European deer are kept in the hunting farm. The animals are in perfect order, their health is not threatened, the farm employees assured a BELTA correspondent.
