A quarrel with her husband became the reason for a woman to set fire to her 1.5-month-old baby
A quarrel with her husband became the reason for the woman to set fire to her 1.5-month-old child. The accused herself stated this motive, as reported today at a press conference by Vladimir Shalukhin, Head of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus for the Vitebsk Region, a BELTA correspondent reports.
The woman has been charged under paragraphs 2 and 5 of Part 2 of Article 139 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus - murder of a minor, committed by a generally dangerous method. She has been taken into custody. This criminal case is being investigated by investigators of the Investigative Committee Department for the Vitebsk Region. Examinations have been appointed in the case, including a comprehensive stationary psychological and psychiatric examination of the accused. It will help clarify the circumstances of the committed crime.
According to Vladimir Shalukhin, the woman fully admitted her guilt, motivating the crime by a quarrel with her husband that occurred the day before. "However, the accused's admission of guilt alone is not proof of the crime committed by her for the investigators," Vladimir Shalukhin emphasized.
As reported earlier, on the morning of December 13, 2012, a fire broke out in an apartment in the village of Nikitikha, Shumilinsky District, as a result of which a baby's crib was damaged by fire. A corpse of an infant born in 2012 was found at the scene of the fire with thermal burns. As a result of the initial investigative actions, as well as operational-search activities, the investigation had grounds to believe that the mother of the deceased, who was on maternity leave, committed the arson of the crib.
