The names of the laureates of the "Man of the Year-2012" award for Vitebsk and Vitebsk region have become known
Every family has its own genealogy, its own history and traditions, its own home. A family is a small unit of society, but very often we also call a community of people connected by common aspirations, labor for the benefit of all, and love for that great home which is our native land, a family. And in this sense, we, the people of the Dvina region, are a family, and our home is celebrating a holiday. The Vitebsk region is celebrating 75 years since the beginning of the modern history of the Dvina region. On January 15, 1938, the Supreme Soviet of the USSR adopted a decision on the formation of the Vitebsk region.
Today, our region is characterized by a stable economic model, and it undoubtedly defines all vectors of our life. The Vitebsk region is famous for its economic and socio-cultural achievements, its richest natural attractions, and, of course, its workers – remarkable and hardworking people whose talent and energy serve to strengthen the region's economic potential, who contribute to the formation of the region's attractive image within the republic and beyond, and create spiritual values. And they rightfully deserve recognition, and our gratitude to them is immense.
Since January 2009, when the executive committee approved the procedure for awarding the honorary title "Person of the Year of the Vitebsk Region," the names of 400 laureates have already been announced. Now, this glorious list will be supplemented by the names of another hundred best representatives of various industries and spheres of activity – the honorary title "Person of the Year of the Vitebsk Region" is awarded in 20 nominations.
On February 1, a solemn meeting dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Vitebsk region and the ceremony honoring the recipients of the honorary title "Person of the Year of the Vitebsk Region" for their achievements in 2012 took place at the Vitebsk Concert Hall.
These events unite us, and throughout the year they will serve as a reason for new meetings and publications about the vibrant life of the region, its history, and our remarkable, outstanding fellow countrymen.
