Novopolotsk high school students learned about the work of city officials

Students of the Philology and Social Studies track at the State Educational Institution "Novopolotsk Lyceum" visited the city executive committee today and communicated with the city leadership, as reported to BELTA correspondent by Oleg Buevich, Deputy Chairman of the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee.

The visit to the city executive committee was a special prize for the dance group of the 10th "D" grade, which presented an uplifting, positive energy composition "Life is Everything..." at the city waltz evening. About 20 people became guests of the state institution today. The students visited the office of the chairman of the city executive committee, asked Dmitry Demidov what issues he had resolved during the day, and secured the support of the city leader in promoting their initiatives to improve the urban environment and solve the population's life problems.

In addition, the schoolchildren showed keen interest in the activities of the deputy chairman for social issues, the head of the department for labor, employment, and social protection of the population, and the head of the land management service. "The high school students asked specific questions: how many pensioners are in the city and how many people are employed. After receiving the answers, they were genuinely surprised that even in such a young city as Novopolotsk, there are 28,000 people of retirement age for every 51,000 employed," said Oleg Buevich. The young people were also interested in the development of sports and tourism, and asked how many among

city officials for youth, and what the salary is here. Schoolchildren visited the meeting rooms, tried on the seats of the presidium. They were interested in the topic of cooperation with twin cities, whose coats of arms are displayed in one of the city executive committee halls. Having learned that guests from Serbia are expected in Novopolotsk soon, the children offered to accommodate the delegation members in their families. Issues of the legislative branch's activities were also touched upon, not only of the city council but also of the House of Representatives. "The children were very interested, asked many questions, and talked about their plans to visit the Belarusian parliament, and also shared their dream of taking an excursion to the Administration of the President," said the deputy chairman of the executive committee. The excursion to the city executive committee ended with a joint tea party at a sweet table. "This meeting was held on a positive note. It was very pleasant and useful for both the children and the officials of the city executive committee," summarized Oleg Buevich, adding that the city authorities are open for communication and are interested in dialogue with the residents of the oil city.
