Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Shersnev congratulated Dubrovno schoolchildren on Knowledge Day

Старшыня Віцебскага аблвыканкама Мікалай Шарснёў павіншаваў дубровенскіх школьнікаў з Днём ведаў
Day of Knowledge… An exciting and special day for schoolchildren, their parents, and educators. The new academic year means new events, new unforgettable moments, new useful knowledge, and new school friends. This year, a number of changes are taking place in the Belarusian education system: updated curricula and textbooks, and new approaches to nurturing the younger generation have been outlined.

As of September 1, about 1 million students in Belarus have started their studies, including 110,000 first-graders. For the new academic year, 2 newly built schools and 6 preschool educational institutions have opened their doors in the country.

Students and teachers of Secondary School No. 1 in Dubrovno received a pleasant gift this academic year. A major renovation of two buildings and the stadium has been completed here. The material and technical base has been significantly updated: a new computer class, multiboards, interactive projectors, televisions, school furniture, equipment for the canteen, and even robotics have been acquired.
About 52 thousand rubles were allocated for the purchase of sports equipment and simulators, as well as game inventory for extended-day groups. In total, about 2 million rubles were spent on repair and construction work at the first school. Such investments in the education sector in the Dubrovno region have never happened before. Now, the school's educators face a great responsibility – to show good results of their work, primarily in the quality of education and upbringing of students. After all, as emphasized by the President of the country Alexander Lukashenko at the Republican Pedagogical Council, the future of today's children entering the adult world depends on the diligent work of educators. On the occasion of the Knowledge Day holiday, the renovated school was visited by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Shersnev, Head of the Education Department of the Regional Executive Committee Dmitry Khoma, Chairman of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee Oleg Lyndin, and other government officials.

In his welcoming speech, the region's governor Nikolai Shersnev emphasized that much attention is paid to the education system in the Vitebsk region.

Material investments should yield results – quality education for students both in the city and in the village.
Addressing the attendees, N. Shersnev noted: "You are capable of overcoming all difficulties, becoming truly educated people, and contributing to the future of the republic."

At the same time, he emphasized that the most important thing is for today's students to become true citizens of their country: "It doesn't matter as much whether you get higher education, work in science or agriculture; the main thing is that you approach your work with inspiration and responsibility. Because the future of our country depends on it." Nikolai Nikolaevich congratulated teachers, students, and their parents on the beginning of the new academic year. He wished teachers and parents professional success, wisdom, and patience. To the students, he wished perseverance, excellent grades, creativity, and a rich and diverse life, and presented the school with a certificate for 250 thousand rubles.

The Chairman of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee, Oleg Lyndin, joined the congratulations and expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests for the attention and assistance that the regional executive committee provides to the Dubrovno region. "A large-scale restoration effort is currently underway in our district. And educational institutions in the city have become one of the main objects of this work. We see what Secondary School No. 1 has become. Thank you very much for this," said Oleg Lyndin.

The main heroes of the celebration, of course, were the first-graders. They were welcomed by their older friends – the future graduates of the school – the eleventh-graders. Together, they released colorful balloons into the sky and made their wishes.

And the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Shersnev, presented the first-graders with a gift from the President of the Republic of Belarus, A.R. Lukashenko – the educational and methodological complex "Belarus is Our Motherland." The first bell rang. Classes began with a lesson titled "Belarus is My Fatherland." Thus, the new academic year was launched.

By the way, in the 2017-2018 academic year, 1505 students in the Dubrovno region embarked on their journey into the world of knowledge, including 161 first-graders, and kindergartens opened their doors to 505 children.
