Collision with a street light pole proved fatal for the Audi driver in a nighttime road accident in Vitebsk, BELTA was informed by the regional Emergency Situations Ministry department.
On the night of May 26, the Emergency Situations Ministry service received a report from the duty officer of the Internal Affairs Directorate about a road traffic accident in Vitebsk on Chkalov Street. As a result of a collision with a street light pole, the driver of the "AUDI-100" passenger car died, and the passenger was injured. Rescuers' assistance was needed to extract both, as the car doors were blocked.
Emergency Situations Ministry workers, using hydraulic emergency rescue equipment, first unblocked the 40-year-old passenger, a resident of Vitebsk. The victim was handed over to an ambulance crew and taken to the regional clinical hospital with a diagnosis of "open traumatic brain injury, blunt abdominal trauma." A few minutes later, the driver's body was unblocked.
An investigation into the road accident is being conducted by the traffic police department of the Vitebsk District Department of Internal Affairs.
