The construction of the memorial "Urochishche "Peski" in Polotsk is acquiring a national scale

This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of the Public Association "Belarusian Peace Foundation" Maksim Misko during the summing up of the activities of the Vitebsk regional branch for the past year.

The project started in 2010 on the initiative of the Polotsk city organization and was supported by local authorities. However, sponsorship and voluntary donations collected in the Vitebsk region, as well as allocated budget funds, proved insufficient. Therefore, the public association "Belarusian Peace Foundation" joined the local initiative, which appealed to other regions with a request to support the northern region. Thus, the Polotsk project acquired a republican scale. According to Maksim Vladimirovich, donations from all corners of the country began to actively arrive in the Peace Foundation's piggy bank for the construction of the memorial complex in memory of the victims of fascism "Urochishche 'Peski'", and the account was significantly replenished in January alone. The cost of the entire project, according to the design and estimate documentation, is about 9 billion rubles.

"I hope that construction will be completed by the end of 2016. Belarusians always help each other, especially in difficult situations, they know how to mobilize and show their best qualities. I think the construction of the memorial will be a confirmation of this," says Maksim Misko.

It should be reminded that the project "Let's build a memorial together" for the construction of the "Urochishche 'Peski'" complex in Polotsk region is currently one of the most large-scale for the Vitebsk region.
