BSUIR students offered Vitebsk their ideas and projects for the development of urban areas
October 6, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Architectural and design concepts for the development of territories in Vitebsk and large cities of the region have been developed by students of the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU). An exhibition of projects by future architects opened today at the regional executive committee, a BELTA correspondent reports.
10 diploma works by students are presented, all projects are based on specific avenues, streets, and individual fragments of cities. Using modern trends in construction, the graduates tried to offer their vision of the development potential of urban areas, BNTU Department of Architectural Environment Design Associate Professor Anna Litvinova told a BELTA correspondent. The fresh ideas embodied in diverse projects should interest architects and specialists of the region's design organizations and may become the basis for promising urban new buildings.
For example, the architectural and design concept for a pedestrian space in the Suvorov Street area of Vitebsk provides for the division of this territory into three parts based on the presence of architectural styles. "The main idea of the project is to show the charm and beauty of the historical center in a small area of the city, to which all other proposals for enriching the territory with small architectural forms and new objects are subordinated," Anna Litvinova noted.
The design concept for the Museum of Modern Art includes a proposal for the creation of a multi-level space where the adjacent landscape territory can also serve as an exhibition area. "Vitebsk is considered an avant-garde city in terms of art development, and the project successfully conveys the spirit of the place, creating an environment that corresponds to Chagall's Vitebsk," Anna Litvinova is confident. The concept is developed using elements of landscape design and new types of art design, which corresponds to the modern approach in organizing exhibition spaces at the level of leading European cities in this regard.
In their works, students tried to preserve the historical heritage of the cities of the Vitebsk region and interpret all the best into new architecture, Anna Litvinova emphasized. -0-
