Students from all over Belarus will offer street lighting options for Polotsk

Students from all over Belarus will propose street lighting solutions for Polotsk, as reported by the "Interaktsiya" Foundation.

From April 4 to 10, student teams, mentored by architects, designers, and technical experts from Belarus and Latvia, will work on creating lighting design solutions for the city at the "Arch.Pro.Svet" forum in Polotsk. The projects must be not only creative and innovative but also energy-efficient. The most successful student concepts and proposals will form the basis of city lighting design projects, which will be implemented within the "GorSvet" project activities or included in the Polotsk Urban Lighting Development Strategy until 2030. Additionally, the concepts will be presented at the Energy Days, which will take place in Polotsk in June during the European Sustainable Energy Week.

The main goal of the "GorSvet" project is to make the urban lighting system in Polotsk more modern and less energy-consuming. Thanks to the project, energy-efficient luminaires (both LED and those powered by solar and wind energy) are expected to appear on the central and entrance streets of the city, decorative lighting for buildings and monuments will be updated, and the city-wide lighting control system will be modernized and automated. The initiative was launched at the end of 2015, with the main funding provided by the EU.

The organizers of the "Arch.Pro.Svet" forum are the Polotsk District Executive Committee, Polotsk State University, and the Belarusian Association of

architectural students, as well as the "Interaction" foundation, which specializes in the development and implementation of EU-funded projects in Belarus and neighboring countries.
