VSGTU students and schoolchildren from Orsha became winners and prize-winners of the international 3D modeling competition

October 22, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Three-dimensional projects by students of Vitebsk State Technological University became winners and prize-winners of the X International Competition "Future Aces of Computer 3D Modeling," the director of the university's technopark, Konstantin Matveev, told a BELTA correspondent. The 3D project competition was held in Moscow as part of the international educational forum "Be an Engineer." It is held annually and aims to introduce modern information technologies into the engineering education process, and to develop cooperation between primary, secondary, higher education institutions and production. This year, the competition received 205 projects from 103 educational institutions from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Moldova. Two VSTU projects, "Library for Calculation and Construction of 3D Models of Electric Motors for Extruder Drive" and "Library for Calculating the Nesting of Injection Molds," took first and second places in the "Applied Development for COMPAS-3D" nomination this year. The second place in the "Medium Weight Category - from 200 to 1000 Parts in Assembly" nomination was awarded to the design development "Unit for Testing Polymer Materials for Repeated Bending and Abrasive Wear." According to Konstantin Matveev, the success of VSTU students, future engineers, is not accidental. The university has a well-established system for training engineering personnel, in which the development of applied computer-aided design systems occupies an important place. Along with the Vitebsk university, students from School No. 8 in Orsha became prize-winners of the 3D modeling competition in the "School Project in COMPAS-3D LT" nomination for their project "Clock." They also received a special prize from the expert commission "For Comprehensive Project Implementation: From Idea to Manufacturing." Thus, VSTU has excellent chances, by attracting students from Orsha schools in a few years, to continue winning prizes at prestigious engineering competitions. -0-
