Vitebsk student teams began their work semester with parting words from a time capsule

Commanders and commissars of Vitebsk student detachments received their assignments for the third work semester today and, as a bonus, farewell words from Komsomol members, retrieved from a time capsule. Yesterday, at the monument to the Komsomol underground fighters of the Zheleznodorozhny district who died in the struggle against the fascist invaders, symbolic assignments for the work semester were presented to 14 educational institutions of the city. The ceremony is traditional, but this year it was accompanied by a special event. A time capsule, laid 30 years ago by Komsomol members who were reconstructing the stele in honor of their heroic predecessors at the same location, was opened.

Inside was a message addressed to the youth of the III millennium from activists of the district, the Comintern and Kirov factories, the Vitebsk Electrical Measuring Instruments Plant, and the "Khimplast" enterprise. The letter calls to remember the great sacrifices, heroism, and selflessness of the people and to work together for the benefit of the country. "Neither our generation nor yours could witness the horrors of the Great Patriotic War, but we were fortunate to live alongside those who fought for Victory at the front and in the rear, in the trenches and at the machines, on land and at sea, in hospitals and on scorched fields. Together, we are rebuilding our cities and restoring industry through the student detachment movement," the message reads.

The third work semester for the city's student detachments has officially opened, although many of them started working even earlier. According to Pavel Drozdov, the second secretary of the city committee of the BRSM, about 25 contracts have been concluded with employers to date, and over 300 people have been employed. This includes 9 medical detachments (97 people) working year-round in healthcare institutions, with plans to form 3 more. Pedagogical detachments have already started working in children's recreational camps, and service detachments are connecting subscribers and distributing information about "Beltelecom" services. Two construction detachments at OJSC "Zhilstroy" will begin work on sites any day now, and

"Mostostroy". There is also an agreement on the employment of 100 people as part of agricultural detachments for berry harvesting in the Tolochin district. Other agricultural detachments will be formed later.
