Subbotin: I vote for the prosperity and progressive development of Belarus

Subbotin: Today Belarusians are taking a step towards the future of their country together

Today, Belarusians are taking a step together on the road to a bright future. This opinion was shared with journalists by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, who came with his family to his polling station at the beginning of its work. Despite his high status, the governor had to stand in line, which he took with a smile:

- It seems we arrived by eight, but to my own surprise, I was far from the first. Such public activity is, of course, pleasing. The political will of every Belarusian is important. Today, we are all taking a small step together on the road to a bright future.

The head of the region emphasized that his recent meetings with work collectives showed that the political inertia characteristic of our people has changed. Public interest in amending the Basic Law, the legislative framework, and the country's development has significantly increased:

- During discussions at dialogue platforms, a huge number of proposals were received, people participated in dialogues, and offered their specific ideas. The situation around our country has also spurred political activity. What is happening in Ukraine, the unprecedented pressure from the West. All this has made many realize that besides ourselves, our people are needed by no one. And if we are not masters in our own home, if we do not build a competent and effective policy, we will simply be wiped off the face of the earth as a nation. Therefore, I am sure that today many, like my family, will vote for change, for a peaceful sky, for the development of Belarus. For their country.

Journalists were able to verify the correctness of his words just a few minutes later during a conversation with Alexander Mekhov, who, along with his wife Olga, was also among the first to arrive at the polling station:

- I am voting simply for Belarus. For it to live well, and for us to never have any Donbas or Luhansk. I believe that today every true citizen of Belarus, if they truly love their country, will definitely come to the polling station.

According to the chairperson of the precinct commission, Natalia Kosheleva, about 1.3 thousand voters are registered at her polling station. All generations are active – older, middle-aged, and young. Voter turnout is high. During the early voting period, 44.7% of citizens assigned to the precinct made their choice:

- Early voting showed that people are very concerned about the situation around Belarus, about their country. That is why they are voting, not hiding their emotions, for the future of their homeland, for peace on their land. For example, a woman who came to the polling station yesterday was simply moved to tears before our eyes, so much are the current events worrying her. According to her, with her vote, she did everything in her power to ensure that our country lives peacefully.
