Existing customs duties for individuals in Belarus are not planned to be changed - State Customs Committee
July 28, Minsk / Liliya Krapivina - BELTA/. Belarus does not plan to change the existing customs duties for individuals. This was stated today to journalists by the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus, Sergey Borysyuk, according to a BELTA correspondent.
"Work on changing the existing customs duty rates is not being carried out," said Sergey Borysyuk, answering journalists' questions regarding the possible preservation of customs duty rates for the import of passenger cars for low-income segments of the population, which were in effect until July 1, 2011. However, according to him, there is an opportunity to protect low-income segments of the population by reimbursing them for the amounts of customs duties and taxes paid, including for imported cars.
"The state always reserves the right to regulate legal relations, including issues related to the taxation of goods imported by low-income segments of the population with customs duties and taxes," stated the Deputy Chairman of the SCC. There is a procedure according to which, after payment of customs duties and taxes, categories of persons who can be classified as low-income, as well as large families and disabled people, may be reimbursed for the paid customs duty by a decision of the head of state. Paid customs duties for both passenger cars and other goods may be reimbursed.
At the same time, as Sergey Borysyuk emphasized, there is no probability that the previous duty rates will be left for anyone. -0-
