Souvenirs for letters will be distributed by postal workers of the Vitebsk region on January 23

Сувениры за письма будут раздавать почтовики Витебской области 23 января

I bet most of us can't even remember the last time we sent a handwritten letter. More and more often, messages arrive by email, and if they are in an envelope, they are typed on a computer, where neat lines hide emotions, letters don't jump from excitement, where there are no traces of tears or chocolate. Everything is clean. What a pity! Nostalgia for the times when the epistolary genre was in vogue and correspondence was received almost daily, when lines “rejoiced” or “got angry”, when they were alive, in the age of computer texts and SMS messages, is felt particularly acutely. But it all depends on ourselves, because it is easy to bring handwritten messages back into your life. You can send a note to your relatives or friends on Handwritten Letter Day, which is celebrated worldwide on January 23. The Association of Writing Instrument Manufacturers, which is the founder of the holiday, chose the date not by chance: John Hancock, who was the first to sign the US Declaration of Independence, was born on this day.

Employees of the Vitebsk branch of RUE “Belpochta” decided to support those who appreciate the handwritten word. Thus, in the post offices of Vitebsk-15 (Moskovsky Ave., 10), Glubokoe-3 (Lenina St., 8), Orsha-11 (Lenina St., 46), Polotsk-16 (Bogdanovicha St., 10), Postavy-3 (Lenina Sq., 16), Novopolotsk-6 (Molodezhnaya St., 74), everyone who sends a letter on January 23 from 1 PM to 4 PM will receive a commemorative souvenir as a gift.
