Over 140 children joined the ranks of the Belarusian Republican Pioneer Organization in the Horadok district

Свыше 140 ребят влились в ряды Белорусской республиканской пионерской организации в Городокском районе
The solemn ceremony was held as part of the Pioneer Friendship Day celebration. The schoolchildren took an oath to "love the Motherland, be kind, honest, and just," and the ties in the colors of the state flag were tied on them by honored guests, including the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev and the Head of the District Executive Committee Petr Korobach.

— Children, this is an important day in your lives. Pioneer means first. Guided by this principle, many boys and girls during the Great Patriotic War made their feasible contribution to the struggle against the invaders. Many of them participated in the defense of the Brest Fortress, served as signalmen in partisan detachments. Special mention should be made of the courage and resilience of Zinaida Portnova, a member of the Obel underground in the Shumilino district, who was brutally tortured by the fascists and awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, — said Vladimir Terentyev. — You are our future; when you grow up, you will be at the helm of the state. Broad prospects are open before you. A vivid example of this is mine. I began to show leadership qualities as a pioneer — I was a standard-bearer of the regional organization, then deputy chairman of the Vitebsk region pioneer headquarters, and my first job was a pioneer leader at school.

— Our pioneer organization is one of the largest in the region. Over the decades of its existence, its members have made a worthy contribution to the development of the Gorodok land, — said Petr Korobach. — Pioneers have always been role models for their peers in studies and discipline. I hope you will continue the glorious traditions of your predecessors, respect your elders, honor the memory of the feats of your ancestors, and strive to make our homeland stronger and more beautiful.
