Over 15,000 pupils and students from the Vitebsk region took part in the "Labor Semester-2012"

Over 15,000 pupils and students of the Vitebsk region took part in the "Labor Semester-2012", the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the BRSM informed a BELTA correspondent.

According to the results of the labor semester, 15.3 thousand people worked in 757 student teams (construction, agricultural, pedagogical, ecological, service), which is 8,000 more young people than in 2011. Individual jobs were found for 416 pupils. Among those employed, 7.3 thousand were minors.

"Youth employment in construction teams involved in the reconstruction and improvement of the region's dairy farms became significant and responsible. A total of 1.4 thousand young people worked at these facilities in 122 teams," specialists emphasized.

Youth were also employed in the construction of socially significant facilities (preschool institutions in Vitebsk, residential buildings, the Ice Palace in Orsha, the central city hospital in Novopolotsk, in the "Vitebsk" free economic zone, etc.). The guys helped with the harvest, tried their hand as conductors on the Russian Railways, and went to work in Tuapse and Krasnodar Krai, and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. At the same time, the number of team participants sent outside of Belarus significantly increased in the current labor semester.

"The organization of secondary employment for youth is a priority area of activity for the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the BRSM. It is important that this work is carried out with the active support and close interaction of local executive authorities. This largely contributed to the fact that for the third consecutive year, the Vitebsk Regional Headquarters of Student Teams has been recognized as the best in the country based on the results of the "Labor Semester" summary," the regional committee emphasized.

Today, a solemn meeting will be held at the Vitebsk Concert Hall to summarize the results of the temporary employment of youth in the Vitebsk region "Labor Semester-2012". During the official part of the event, over 60 winners in 14 nominations will be honored, including the best fighters, commanders, employers, and student teams who worked both within the country and abroad. After the official part, a cultural and entertainment program awaits the participants.

The event is organized by the Education Department and the Department for Youth Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the public association "Belarusian Republican Youth Union".
