Over 6,000 students from the Vitebsk region will help villagers harvest crops
September 6, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. More than 6 thousand students from the Vitebsk region will help villagers harvest this autumn, the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the BRSM informed a BELTA correspondent.
The largest number of young men and women will work in the farms of the Vitebsk region. Local agricultural organizations required additional help from 2.5 thousand students for harvesting root crops. 700 and about 500 first-year students will be sent to the Polotsk and Orsha regions, respectively. 465 people will be involved in harvesting flax at the Orekhovsky (Orsha region), Kokhanovsky (Tolochnsky region), Polotsk, Lepel and Gorodok flax mills.
The dispatch of students to agricultural work has already begun. This year's contingent of young people, numbering 1.8 thousand people, exceeds last year's level, which is due to the rich harvest, the BRSM noted. The youth will return to their studies in October-November.
Meanwhile, most students of higher educational institutions, secondary vocational schools and vocational schools in the region managed to work well during the summer. Almost 3.6 thousand people took part in paid labor, working in 122 detachments - construction, agricultural, pedagogical, environmental and service.-0-
