The regional sports festival "Rural Games" in the Postavy district gathered over 600 participants

The regional sports event "Rural Games" at the Ostrovets sports and tourism complex "Ozerki" brought together over 600 people. Each team consisted of 29 people, and there were also fans, organizers, and judges. For three days, fans of a healthy lifestyle from Beshenkovichi, Braslav, Verkhnedvinsk, Vitebsk, Gluboksky, Gorodok, Dokshitsy, Dubrovno, Lepel, Liozno, Miory, Postavy, Rossony, Senno, Tolochin, Chashniki, Ushachi, Sharkovshchina, and Shumilino districts competed for the title of the strongest.

At the grand opening of the games, Vasily Zakharevich, head of the sports and tourism department of the regional executive committee, and Petr Kurto, chairman of the Postavy District Council of Deputies, wished them high spirits and sporting success.

Football players and men's and women's volleyball teams were the first to compete. Balls started hitting tennis tables in the FOK sports halls. Passions flared up on the streetball courts, in the kettlebell lifting, on the obstacle course, and in the shooting range… Some competitions required strength, others agility, and some both. It was not easy to pass a section of the route on shaky suspension bridges, not to lose time carrying cargo, to crawl through a "mouse trap" without penalty points, and to deliver a victim to the medical station using improvised means.

Capricious luck wandered between the courts, helping one team or another. By the end of the second day, favorites had emerged in each type of competition. Additional points were awarded to teams based on the results of "presentations," camp arrangements, and field kitchens.

The teams from Gluboksky, Braslavsky, and Miorsky districts performed well on stage. Their presentations about themselves and their districts were vivid, artistic, and deserved first, second, and third places, respectively. The Miory team moved up one step, taking second place in mini-football and table tennis, and dropped to third again in volleyball, ultimately securing second place overall.

An unsuccessful "introduction" affected the final result of the Verkhnedvinsk team. Having won in mini-football, tennis, and streetball, they were only fourteenth in the "presentation of themselves," resulting in third place overall.

The winner of the "Rural Games – 2022" was the Glubokoye team.

But in the grand scheme of things, there were no losers – everyone won. Three days among friends benefited their health, strengthened friendships, and made each team think about what needs to be worked on to win at the next games.
