Over 7 million trees will be planted in the Vitebsk region during the "Forest Week"

April 9, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Over 7 million trees will be planted in the Vitebsk region during the "Forest Week-2010" campaign. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Pavel Losich, Deputy General Director of the Vitebsk Production Forestry Association. Due to climatic features, the republican campaign will be held in the Vitebsk region somewhat later compared to other regions - from April 18 to 24. Forestry workers have already identified 873 plots with a total area of 1644 hectares, where trees will be planted. Significant attention will be paid during these days to the improvement of forest areas, as well as to burials and memorable places of military glory located on them. It is planned to tidy up 84 hectares, repair and build about 140 recreation areas. The cleanup will also affect the roadside strips around settlements. Currently, volunteer participants of the campaign are being registered in the region's forestry enterprises. According to the latest data, 4.3 thousand people have already expressed their desire to take part in "Forest Week", including 2.1 thousand schoolchildren and students, over 100 veterans, about 400 BRSM activists, as well as representatives of various organizations. -0-
