November 5, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Over 88 thousand residents of the Vitebsk region have been vaccinated against seasonal flu as of November 4, Nikolai Novikov, head of the immunization department at the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, told a BELTA correspondent. The vaccination campaign in the region will continue until the end of the current week. Almost half of those vaccinated are children. 4.5 thousand adults were vaccinated at the expense of organizations. Enterprises in Vitebsk and Polotsk showed the greatest concern for the health of their employees. They paid for the vaccination of 2.3 thousand and 2.1 thousand employees, respectively. Despite the panic buying of medicines in the region's pharmacies, residents are in no hurry to pay for vaccinations out of their own pocket. Only 89 adults were vaccinated at their own expense, and 16 children were vaccinated at the expense of their parents. According to the regional center for hygiene, the excess of the threshold level of incidence of respiratory infections and influenza in the region is gradually decreasing. At the same time, preventive restrictive measures are in place in 161 general education schools in the region.
