Over Br120 million allocated for the employment adaptation of disabled people in the Vitebsk region

December 2, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Over Br120 million has been allocated for the vocational rehabilitation of disabled people in the Vitebsk region since the beginning of the current year, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Labor, Employment and Social Protection Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. Vocational rehabilitation of people with disabilities is aimed at improving their professional level and competitiveness in the labor market. From the funds allocated for ensuring employment of the population, the employer is compensated for the costs of disabled employees' wages for 6-12 months. During this time, the employee undergoes training, skill enhancement, and acquires practical skills. As a rule, after the adaptation period stipulated by the contract expires, the disabled person continues to work at the same enterprise. In the Vitebsk region, such a practice exists in organizations of various forms of ownership. According to data for 11 months, 35 people are undergoing vocational rehabilitation in the region. The State Program for Employment Promotion also provides for incentives for employers to create specialized jobs for the employment of disabled people. This year, 21 jobs have been created in the region at enterprises of public organizations of disabled people: "BelTIZ", "BelOI", "BelOG", with compensation for costs amounting to over Br430 million. In accordance with the recommendations of medical and rehabilitation expert commissions, over 300 disabled people have been employed this year, including more than 200 in reserved jobs. 55 people received consultations on career choice and were sent for vocational training, 30 of whom found employment. In the Vitebsk region, over 52,000 citizens recognized as disabled are registered with the labor, employment, and social protection authorities. -0-
