August 9, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Over Br83 billion has been allocated in the Vitebsk region for preparation for the inter-season period, the head of the production and technical department of the housing and communal services department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Anatoly Sudak, told a BELTA correspondent. The main part of the work is related to the preparation of the region's heat sources for winter. For this purpose, work is underway to convert five boiler houses to local types of fuel with mechanized loading: two boilers with a capacity of 3 MW each will be installed at the boiler house in the settlement of Babinichi, Orsha district; Liozno - 2 boilers of 2 MW each; Beshenkovichi - 2 boilers with a capacity of 5 MW; at the Central boiler house in Borovka, Lepel district - two of 2 MW each; in Polotsk - three of 3 MW each. In the past inter-season period, 451 heat sources with a total capacity of about 2 thousand MW were in operation in the Vitebsk region. This year, the boiler house facilities of the region's housing and communal services will be replenished by boiler houses of educational institutions. There are 116 of the latter in the region, 50% of which are planned to be transferred to the balance of housing and communal services in 2012. In addition, work is underway to prepare for the launch of a cogeneration unit in the settlement of Ruba near Vitebsk with a capacity of 2 MW. The commissioning of the facility is scheduled for September. Fuel is being procured for preparation for the heating season. Currently, the region has already created a reserve of 151 thousand cubic meters of firewood (47% of the target), 37.4 thousand dense cubic meters of wood chips (62%), and 3.3 thousand tons of peat (47%). 36.4 km of heating networks have been replaced.
