The Lyalka Theatre opens a new season of premieres and legends
"Lyalka" begins its 30th season with a premiere. Vitebsk puppeteers invite young viewers to "Gorad klouna Pika" – this is the debut performance of young director Mikhail Klimchuk. And on Sunday evening, a performance for adults "Dziadzka Vanya i syastry try" will be held. In addition, the program includes an awards ceremony for the best actors of the past season.
At a press conference dedicated to the opening of the new theater year, the puppeteers shared their plans. Thus, the artistic director of the theater, Viktor Klimchuk, is about to stage the play "Umka". The director explained why he chose this particular fairy tale about a bear cub:
– I think Umka will be the very hero and friend that children sometimes lack. I want the play to become a reason for further communication, so that children write letters to Umka, share their dreams with him.
Viktor Klimchuk also plans to stage Andersen's fairy tale about the steadfast tin soldier, and a performance dedicated to Marc Chagall is also planned. And soon "Lyalka" will stage a real mystery play at the White Lady's.
– Our theater is located in a historic place – on Zamkovaya Hill, and we decided to use this. We took the legend of the White Lady, who once lived in the castle, and thought that a spectacular performance could be staged around her, which we called "Misteryya u Belai panny". The most suitable day will be October 31st. In a sense, our performance will be an alternative to Halloween and will mark the beginning of a new tradition, – said the theater director Alexander Grigoriev.
The mystery program includes shadow theater, a gothic quest, and the mystical performance "Zahublenaya dusha, abo Pakaranne hreshnika", after which a fire show and fireworks are planned outdoors. The organizers are convinced that such a project will attract young people to the theater.
At the end of September, "Lyalka" will take part in the international festival "Belgorodskye Zabavy". In Russia, the Belarusian Puppet Theatre will present an adult performance "Sempteyshen" based on Chekhov's play "The Black Monk". And in October, the Vitebsk puppeteers will travel to Cheboksary for the forum "A Special Festival for Special Audiences 'It's Not Necessary to Be the Same'". For children with disabilities, the cheerful interactive performance "Zhyv-byu Zayats" has been chosen.
In April of next year, "Lyalka" will celebrate its anniversary and prepare many surprises for young and adult audiences.
