The 'Lyalka' Theatre brought the Grand Prix from Tatarstan for an adult performance
The Belarusian puppet theatre "Lyalka" returned from Kazan with the main award of the International Festival "Shombay-fest".
The Vitebsk puppeteers brought their award-winning performance, which has repeatedly received awards at theatre forums, to the capital of Tatarstan – "Zahublenaya dusha, abo Pakarannie hreshnika". And they did not lose out: the production was recognized as the best among 15, presented by troupes from different cities of Russia and CIS countries.
The performance is based on one of the plots from the book "Shliatsits Zavalnya, abo Belarus u fantastychnyh apavyadannyah" by Jan Barszczewski, a classic of 19th-century Belarusian literature. The production was staged by the renowned Belarusian director, laureate of the National Theatre Award of the Republic of Belarus, Oleg Zhugzhda. "Zahublenaya dusha, abo Pakarannie hreshnika" was the first adult performance on the Vitebsk stage and has remained in the repertoire for over 23 years.
