A theatrical procession and various delicacies - the "Cherry Festival" was held in Glubokoye

The traditional "Cherry Festival" was held in Glubokoye.

The festival began with a theatrical procession led by the Cherry Queen to the central square, where a festive concert will be held on stage throughout the day. Chairman of the Glubokoye District Executive Committee Alexander Shubsky noted that the holiday is being held in a more modest format this year due to the pandemic and closed borders. Guests from far and near abroad could not come to the cherry capital of Belarus.

"Organizers and participants have tried to do everything to make the festival rich in events, positive emotions, and new experiences. Friends and partners from Georgia, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine sent their congratulations and wishes," the head of the district noted, expressing hope that the cherry festival will gather all its friends in 2021.

This year, the honoring of medical workers became an integral part of the forum. A ceremony of awarding doctors and volunteers took place on the main stage.

The entire center of Glubokoye is literally living the festival: there are courtyards with treats, trade, folk craftsmen offering their products, farmers selling honey with added cherries, and enterprising local women have put out buckets of this berry. Local cherries are usually more expensive: 10 liters of berries will cost Br15. In other districts of the Vitebsk region, you can buy the same amount for Br10. But the local berry is sweeter, which surprises many, as everyone is used to the sour taste of cherries.

At the courtyards, you can try various cherry delicacies - from the usual sweet ones to very unusual ones. In one tent, they even offered to try bacon with cherries.

In the afternoon, the "Cherry Wedding" registration took place in the newlyweds' square. The forum guests were also awaited by a themed quest, a meeting in the residence of the Cherry Queen, auto and moto shows, and a youth open air.

The "Cherry Festival" is held in Glubokoye for the eighth time; in 2017, it received the status of an international holiday. In 2013, a cherry sculpture appeared in the city, and in 2018, a residence of the Cherry Queen was established on the shore of Lake Kagalnoye in the center of Glubokoye.-0-
