A downward trend in the registered unemployment rate has been established in the Vitebsk region. This data was announced today at a meeting of the board of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by Alesya Ivanova, Head of the Labor Market and Vocational Training Department of the Committee.
"The registered unemployment rate, which is the main indicator of the state program for promoting employment of the population, was 1.1% of the economically active population as of November 1. At the same time, it decreased by 0.1 percentage points from October 1, and by 0.2 from September 1, with a forecast of 1.6% by the end of the year," noted Alesya Ivanova. In four districts and Vitebsk, the unemployment rate is below the regional average.
The Chairman of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection, Alexander Khristoforov, asked the other districts not to relax. This result was partly influenced by the fact that since July, the pace of citizens' requests for employment assistance has slowed down. In October of this year, just over 2,000 people were registered as unemployed, which is 29% less than in January, and 10% lower than in October 2014. In general, the number of unemployed registered with the employment service as of November 1 was over 6,000 people.
