The territory of the Vitebsk region will increase by 1160 hectares

The territory of the Vitebsk region will increase by 1160 hectares. This information was announced at a session of the regional Council of Deputies.

As reported by Igor Levenkov, Head of the Land Management Department of the Regional Executive Committee, in 2015, by order of the government, the creation of a land information system (LIS) was completed in all districts of the country. Thus, for the first time in the history of Belarus, a digital plan-cartographic basis has been created. Analysis of the LIS results showed that the obtained data differs from the land records. One of the reasons is the discrepancy between the actual and legal boundaries, preserved on topographic maps of previous years and in the registration materials of districts and village councils. Inaccuracies in the location of boundaries have accumulated over the last 50 years due to land reclamation, road construction, natural and other factors.

Following the completed work, the boundaries of the Vitebsk region and districts have been aligned with long-term and recognizable objects: roads, rivers, and canals. The materials, prepared by "Vitebskgiprozem," have been agreed upon with the district executive committees, and the Mogilev, Minsk, and Grodno regional executive committees.

30% of the district boundaries have been normalized. The largest decrease is in Liozno District (1900 hectares), and the increase is in Vitebsk District (1358 hectares).

All changes have been agreed upon and approved by local authorities. The corresponding decision of the Regional Council of Deputies has been sent to the Council of Ministers for the preparation of a normative act, which will be submitted for consideration by the Head of State.

The Regional Council also approved the decision to transfer part of the territory from the Tulovskoye to the Babinichskoye village council of Vitebsk District. As noted by Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, this is due to a collective appeal from the residents of the village of Vitba. The people asked to transfer the local cemetery to the Babinichskoye village council in order to resolve ritual issues more promptly and maintain order.
