The Tolochin Cannery will commission a 2.4 thousand ton fruit storage facility on October 1.

September 23, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Republican Unitary Enterprise (RUE) "Tolochin Cannery" will commission a fruit storage facility for 2.4 thousand tons on October 1, the enterprise director Anatoly Anyukhovsky told a BELTA correspondent. The facility, worth over Br9 billion, includes two storage units of 1.2 thousand tons each, equipped with modern equipment. Fruits of own production will be stored here. This year, it is planned to store 1 thousand tons of apples and pears. The large agricultural lands of the enterprise require constant attention to crop preservation. "The launch of the fruit storage facility will temporarily solve the problem with sweet fruits," the head noted, explaining that while the orchard of 494 hectares has not yet entered the phase of active fruiting, the volume of the new storage will be sufficient, but in two to three years, the entire harvest may not fit here. The issue of potato storage, which is grown on 500 hectares, is more acute. The crop yield this year was 257 centners per hectare, and the gross harvest was 6 thousand tons. Of these, 2.6 thousand tons have already been sold to the public and individual entrepreneurs. Part of the harvest will remain for the plant's own needs, which uses potatoes as raw material for the production of pasta and starch. Enterprise specialists have already begun developing a project for the construction of a potato storage facility for 12 thousand tons. The facility, worth Br24 billion, is planned to be built and commissioned in 2010. In January-August of the current year, Tolochin Cannery produced products worth Br22.9 billion, which is 11.7% more compared to the same period last year. The profitability of sales was 9.3%. The total investment in production development is Br7 billion. The energy saving indicator reached minus 11%. The plant is a budget-forming enterprise of the Tolochin district. It specializes in the production of fruit and grape wines, potato starch, and pasta. Starch is exported to Russia. The total number of employees is 450 people. -0-
