Tolochninsky cannery sent the first batch of french fries to Kazakhstan
"The enterprise is unique, versatile" - this is how its head Anatoly Anyukhovsky briefly characterizes the plant, emphasizing that the success is based on the export component, and agriculture is the cornerstone of all endeavors and prospects.

The history of the enterprise spans several decades. At the same time, the quality of products is renowned not only in the Vitebsk region but also beyond the country's borders. For example, last year, trucks with domestic apples traveled a long way to Vladivostok, where they were sold out instantly, and just a few days ago, the first batch of french fries was sent to Kazakhstan.

First and foremost, as the employees themselves note, it would be extremely difficult to achieve the desired results without state support and the help of scientists. Since 2006, the plant has been a founder of the Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Potato and Fruit and Vegetable Growing. The latest technologies and promising domestic varieties, not inferior in quality to foreign counterparts, are the secret to the enterprise's multifaceted nature.

It manages to compete with foreign suppliers, produce in-demand import-substituting products, and hold leading positions in the country in potato cultivation and storage, as well as fruit and berry production and processing. The existing capacities allow for the production of one thousand tons of starch, 6 million liters of juice products, over 3.6 thousand tons of french fries, and up to 810 thousand decaliters of fruit (including berry) wines per year. And almost all of this can be obtained from its own raw materials.

In the structure of revenue received, which last year exceeded 35.8 million rubles, agricultural products accounted for more than 67 percent. The 8.6 thousand hectares of agricultural land are not enough for the plant; this year, another 1.6 thousand hectares will be transferred to it. In previous years, up to 23 thousand tons of wheat and 6.5 thousand tons of rapeseed were threshed. And another crop consistently yields a good harvest – potatoes, with a yield in 2020 exceeding 500 centners per hectare. Last year, the figure was slightly lower, but still the best in Belarus.

The Tolochin Cannery has the largest potato field in the country. This year, it is planned to increase it to a total of 1.1 thousand hectares.
Both grown and processed products are sold to domestic and foreign markets. The majority of export supplies go to the Russian market. By the way, 95 percent of the potatoes are sent there.

The list of countries where the plant's products are also supplied includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and other CIS countries. Last year, a total of 20 tons of potato starch, 4.4 thousand tons of potatoes, and 887.8 tons of fruits and berries were exported. In the future, the company plans to enter the Chinese market. Given the intensity of sanctions rhetoric, major retail chains in Belarus have also begun to pay more attention to domestic producers.
Every year, from 5 million rubles and above are invested in the development of the enterprise. For example, about 19 million rubles were spent on the recently installed French fry production line in the quick-freezing workshop.

According to Marina Aleinikova, the enterprise's chief technologist, the production capacity of the line is up to 10 thousand tons of finished semi-finished products per year, provided it operates in three shifts. In the near future, the plant workers will start producing "country-style" wedges on the same equipment.
Plans include the construction of a drip irrigation system for the industrial fruit orchard, which can rightfully be called the plant's calling card. It occupies about 568 hectares, 301 of which are allocated for apple trees.
— We strive to reliably preserve and efficiently process everything that is grown. And what is noteworthy is that our employees have an excellent understanding of all the intricacies of modern equipment. This is a clear confirmation that there are many intelligent, talented, and proactive people in rural areas. Youth is our greatest asset, — emphasizes Anatoly Anyukhovsky.
The enterprise employs over 400 people. The average salary is 1.5 thousand rubles. This is of great importance for an agricultural region. By the way, all plant workers are trade union members. Marina Aleinikova, who also heads the primary trade union organization, talks about a comprehensive social package within the collective agreement. This includes various types of financial assistance, health improvement programs, and sending children to sanatoriums, camps, and educational excursions.
— Comfortable working conditions and decent wages are significant arguments for increasing the plant workers' interest in achieving desired results. Moreover, the opening of new production facilities creates additional jobs. After all, for us, the well-being of citizens is paramount, not just performance indicators, — continues Anatoly Vasilyevich.
