Tolochnsky cannery has completed potato harvesting

Last Sunday, the Tolochin Cannery completed the potato harvest, which covered 900 hectares. 45 thousand tons of tubers were harvested with a yield of 500 centners per hectare.

Based on the results of this year's harvest, the enterprise is among the leaders in gross grain and rapeseed yield. All the harvested crop underwent the necessary technological processes at three grain drying complexes, where Yuri Vakhrushev, Valery Gerasimov, and Ruslan Ryabtsev worked as operators during one of the shifts (in the photo). For them, this is a related profession – outside of the harvest season, they work as a forklift driver, boiler operator, and electrician, respectively. Grain processing at the drying complex is one of the most important stages of the harvest, on which the quality of the new crop storage depends.

Assessing the past harvest, Tatyana Kapranova, the chief agronomist of the enterprise, said that weather conditions significantly affected the indicators. The fields were hit by a hurricane twice, which caused significant lodging. Also, during the grain filling period, early varieties were affected by drought. Nevertheless, almost 16.4 thousand tons of grain were harvested from 4.1 thousand hectares with a yield of 39.6 centners per hectare. The Tolochin Cannery had one of the largest areas of spring rapeseed – over 1 thousand hectares. 2.2 thousand tons of oilseeds were threshed, with a yield of 21.3 centners per hectare.
