Nuances of temporary employment and self-development ideas. What else did Vitebsk students discuss at a meeting with BRSM representatives?
Open dialogue meetings are ideal for frank discussions about emerging problems. For students, this is a chance to speak out and be heard. And young people always take advantage of this opportunity. In the first academic month, the Vitebsk City Committee of the BRSM has already held several such events. As a result, the main areas for the local authorities, among others, to work on have been identified. Such meetings allow us to understand the needs of modern youth and provide an impetus for the implementation of their initiatives.
Since students from all universities, young specialists from many enterprises and organizations of the regional center participate in open dialogues, the BRSM activists and specialists have the opportunity to learn about the life priorities and needs of the youth as a whole. In Vitebsk, out of 87,000 people aged 14 to 30, about 20,000 are students. This is a significant part of the population, which is also a potential labor force for society.
At a recent meeting at the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine between students and the activists of the regional and city BRSM, the rector of the academy, and the head of the city's deputy corps, Vladimir Beleevich, the issue of employment was a recurring theme. According to the law, medical students cannot work part-time in healthcare institutions, although these institutions are interested in such cooperation. The rector of VSAVM, Nikolai Gavrichenko, cited an example of secondary employment of students practiced at their university: they work as animal caretakers in their free time. This is both an opportunity to reinforce theory and supplement their budget.
Today's youth do not want to stand aside from the interests of society and wish to actively participate in the formation of their own future and the future of the entire country. Global issues of integration and interaction on the world stage are not alien to them, and therefore many young people want to be among the state figures. This is also consistent with the youth policy of Belarus: to prepare a worthy succession capable of deciding the fate of our republic, including at the international level. And it all begins, believes the first secretary of the Vitebsk city committee of the NGO "BRSM", Tatyana Krasakova, with patriotism. Moreover, it manifests itself not in words, but in deeds.
– Patriotism is not marching with a flag in squares on holidays, it is the good and sincere deeds that we do every day, – is convinced the first secretary of the BRSM city committee. – To cheer for your favorite domestic sports team, to become a first-class specialist who will benefit the country, to help those who for various reasons are in a difficult situation, to protect a stray animal from hooligans. These small things make up a great love for the country in which you live.
Since considerable experience of meetings and interaction with youth has been accumulated, achievements in this area can also be discussed. The large-scale project "100 Ideas for Belarus", various republican competitions, and campaigns in which the next generation can show their talents, realize creative and scientific ideas, are not just a test of young people's abilities, but a platform for self-realization, a step towards achieving a goal.
