The tradition of holding scientific readings has been revived at the I. Sollertinsky Music Festival in Vitebsk

December 2, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. The tradition of holding scientific readings will be resumed at the I. Sollertinsky International Music Festival, Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya, Director of the Marc Chagall Museum, told a BELTA correspondent. The next, 21st, music forum will be held in Vitebsk from December 3 to 24. Scientific readings were held as part of the Vitebsk classical music festival from 1992 to 2001 and were dedicated to the theme of the Vitebsk Renaissance of the early 20th century. "After an eight-year break, caused by various reasons, the festival organizers decided to revive this tradition, but in a new capacity and with different content," noted Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya. The theme of the Vitebsk Renaissance is quite widely developed and is heard in the city. The Marc Chagall Museum, the Center for Contemporary Art, and the regional philharmonic society continue to work on this topic. In addition, publications about the period of flourishing artistic traditions in the city constantly appear in periodicals ("Chagall International Yearbook", "Malevich. Classical Avant-Garde. Vitebsk"). Therefore, this year it was decided to significantly expand the scope of the readings and dedicate them to the problems of the development of modern culture and art. "The subject matter is immense, but the organizers will always adhere to the direction that is of interest to Vitebsk - this is everything related to the life and work of Ivan Sollertinsky, events associated with the name of this legendary person for the city," explained Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya. The readings will be attended by Dmitry Sollertinsky, Chairman of the St. Petersburg D. Shostakovich Foundation, Irina Shimbarevich, Deputy Artistic Director of the G. Tovstonogov Russian State Academic Bolshoi Drama Theater, Honored Artist of Russia, Petr Merkuryev, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the influential Russian publication "Musical Review", Honored Artist of Russia, Yakov Brook, Head of the Department of the State Tretyakov Gallery, Rikke Helms (Denmark), Director of the Danish Cultural Institute in St. Petersburg, and Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya, Director of the Marc Chagall Museum. The event will be held on December 4 at the Marc Chagall Museum. The I. Sollertinsky International Music Festival in Vitebsk is held annually and is the only chamber music festival in Belarus that synthesizes various forms of art. The main task of the forum is to promote contemporary musical art and the traditions of classical musical heritage, revive the great cultural traditions of Vitebsk, and discover new and forgotten names in various forms of art. This year, the festival will feature concerts by world-class musicians from Belarus, Russia, Finland, Sweden, and Holland. The organizers of the I. Sollertinsky International Music Festival are the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the state concert institution "Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic Society".-0-
