July 3, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The tradition of water festivals has returned to Vitebsk after 25 years, Vladimir Terentyev, head of the culture department of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent. On Independence Day, the townspeople will once again be able to enjoy a performance titled "Through the Ages". It will take place on the recently reconstructed picturesque embankment of the Vitba River, which gave its name to the ancient settlement. Children's and adult choreographic and vocal groups, and the historical reconstruction club of the Vitebsk Culture Center will congratulate the residents of Vitebsk on the holiday. Princess Olga herself, the founder, will appear before the audience and solemnly bless her beloved child - the city of Vitebsk - for prosperity and good deeds. The water festival was first held in Vitebsk 35 years ago, on the day of the city's 1000th anniversary. -0-
