– It became clear at the initial stage of the investigation that the permissible speed limit was exceeded, – said Inna Gorbacheva, official representative of the Investigative Committee of Belarus for the Vitebsk region. – This is evidenced by a detailed inspection of the mechanical speedometer, the needle of which was at the 160 km/h mark at the moment of impact.

A little later, forensic experts established that the reckless driver had drunk a lot before getting behind the wheel: 2.7 per mille (a severe degree of alcohol intoxication) was found in his blood.
