The cross-border tourism forum "Cross-border Cooperation - Foundation for the Development of Tourist Border Regions of Bella Dvina and the Baltic Lake District" will be held in Polotsk on May 23-24 as part of the European Union project "Bella Dvina-2". This was reported to BELTA by the project expert Igor Zagrekov.

The forum will be attended by tourism development specialists, entrepreneurs working in the tourism business, and representatives of cross-border tourism projects from the Vitebsk region, the Latgale region (Latvia), and Aukštaitija (Lithuania). Special attention will be paid to such relevant topics as agro-ecotourism and gastronomic tourism, improving the development of the hotel sector, prospects for participation in the European Culinary Heritage network, the development of museums and interactive educational tourism products, and the experience of implementing cross-border tourism projects.

The forum participants will familiarize themselves with the unique tourism products of the border regions of Belarus, Latvia, and Lithuania, consider the prospects for the development of cross-border tourism, and discuss the real opportunities for cooperation between representatives of the tourism business.

The cross-border tourism forum is organized as part of the project "Promotion of Tourism Development in the Border Regions of Latgale, Utena, and Vitebsk" (BELLA DVINA 2) of the Latvia, Lithuania, and Belarus cross-border cooperation program. The total project budget is about 2 million euros.
