One-third of the housing commissioned in January-February in the Vitebsk region was built for those in need

In January-February, organizations of all forms of ownership in the Vitebsk region commissioned over 51 thousand sq.m of housing, as reported by the main statistical department of the Vitebsk region.
According to the regional statistics office, in the northern region, organizations of all forms of ownership built 524 new apartments and commissioned 51.4 thousand sq.m of total housing area. This accounted for 8.7% of the total housing area built in the republic in January-February.

Individual residential houses in the region accounted for over 31 thousand sq.m, which is more than 61% of the total area of housing built.

"A third of the total amount of housing commissioned in the region in January-February is intended for citizens in need of improved housing conditions. For them, 15.5 thousand sq.m of housing and apartment area were built. Of this, 12 thousand sq.m of housing was built for citizens who are undertaking construction with state support," the regional statistics office noted.

Active construction of apartment buildings and individual residential houses in rural areas continues in the Vitebsk region. It is one of the components for the harmonious development of regions and solving the housing issue for young specialists who come to their first place of work in agro-towns and villages. In the first two months of this year, 17.6 thousand sq.m of housing were commissioned in rural areas. Rural settlements accounted for over 34% of the total housing area commissioned during this period.
