Three people died in a fire in the Shumilino district, the Vitebsk regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed a BELTA correspondent. At night on September 5, at 00:20, the operational duty unit of the Shumilino District Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a report of a house fire in the urban settlement of Shumilino. Upon arrival at the scene, heavy smoke and fire were observed inside the wooden log residential house. In a room on a bed near the window, the body of the 54-year-old cohabitant of the homeowner was found; on the floor near the bed, the body of the 59-year-old homeowner; and in the hallway on the floor, the body of the homeowner's unemployed acquaintance, born in 1965, who was visiting her. The presumed cause of the fire is carelessness while smoking by the homeowner's cohabitant. In total, over the past day, 4 fires occurred in the region, resulting in 3 deaths, 1 injury, and 1 person rescued. -0-
