Three fires occurred in grain drying facilities last weekend in the Vitebsk region
August 17, Minsk /BELTA/. Three fires at grain dryers occurred last weekend in the Vitebsk region. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Vitebsk City Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
In the Liozno district, the chairman of the agricultural enterprise "Adamenki" reported a fire in a rye dryer. The dryer, manufactured in 2009 (12 meters high), was loaded with 40 tons of rye. As a result of the rescuers' prompt action, only 50 kg of grain were damaged, and the remaining almost 40 tons were saved.
In the Senno district, an engineer from RUSP named Masherov reported a fire in a similar dryer. At the time of the fire, it was loaded with 40 tons of barley. 30 tons were saved.
In the village of Tarasenkі, Vitebsk district, a wood-fired grain dryer manufactured in 2005 caught fire. It was loaded with 13 tons of rye. One ton of grain was damaged by fire, and 12 tons were saved.
In all three cases, the cause of the fires was a violation of the rules for operating heat-generating devices and installations. Due to the high humidity of the grain, it accumulated on the drying shaft, causing it to heat up and subsequently burn, rescuers explained. -0-
