Thirty-five kilograms of mushrooms per hour is a new record for the Dretun Mushroom Championship
September 18, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Thirty-five kilograms of mushrooms per hour is the new record of the Dretun Mushroom Championship, set today. The head of the ideological work department of the Polotsk District Executive Committee, Dmitry Dolgov, shared the news with a BELTA correspondent.
The winner was the Borovukha rural council team of four people, who collected 123 kg of excellent mushrooms - porcini, orange-cap boletus, and mossy boletus - in 3.5 hours.
A total of more than 100 teams took part in the competition, which is being held for the second time in the Polotsk district. And even the unluckiest mushroom pickers managed to collect 20 kg of forest gifts today. The largest porcini mushroom weighed 800 g.
There were enough prizes and gifts at the championship for everyone, just like mushrooms. Local foresters, in honor of their professional holiday, organized an exhibition of their products. Creative teams of the district pleased the spectators and participants with a cheerful concert, and local chefs and herbalists treated guests to Polotsk delicacies and served forest teas.
According to Dmitry Dolgov, the popularity of the Dretun Mushroom Festival is growing, so it will be held annually in the district. It is possible that this cheerful holiday will become a tourist brand of the district, as forest gathering championships are quite popular in Europe. In Finland, they compete not only in collecting mushrooms and berries, but even forest flowers, and in Lithuania, they even hold night mushroom picking championships. -0-
