September 15, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. A new record for the sale price of real estate exceeding the starting price - by almost 1.9 thousand times - has been set at an auction in Vitebsk. The previous record (1.2 thousand times) lasted just over two months, reported Larisa Shcheglova, head of the auctions and tenders department of the Vitebsk Obliymushchestvo fund, to a BELTA correspondent. The subject of the record bidding was the former pigsty building in Orsha with a total area of 845 sq.m. The single-story building was put up for auction at a starting price of one basic unit (Br35 thousand) and attracted five potential buyers. As a result of intense competition, the winner was determined at the 62nd step of the auctioneer, who offered Br66 million for the real estate. According to the terms of the auction, the new owner undertakes to organize entrepreneurial activity, involving the real estate object in economic circulation, and to create at least five jobs. Since the beginning of the year, the Vitebsk Obliymushchestvo fund has sold 50 real estate objects through auctions, including 30 buildings and structures at tenders with a starting price of one basic unit, for a total amount of almost Br720 million. In 2008-2009, over 200 buildings and structures in the region acquired new owners at auctions with a starting price of one basic unit. For example, private enterprise Ballur, in the former gym building located in the village of Bolbasovo, Orsha district, has created a production facility for assembling cabinet furniture. At the real estate objects acquired at auction in the urban settlement of Yezershche, Gorodok district, the foreign enterprise Detskoselsky Gorodok has organized a logistics center for storing and processing agricultural products. In 2009, the enterprise created 20 jobs, sold almost 3 thousand tons of potatoes and vegetables, while the investor is constantly working to expand production activities and improve adjacent territories. -0-
