A center for the rehabilitation of disabled people and other facilities were opened in Lepel on City Day
A memorial plaque in honor of one of the organizers of the partisan movement in the Vitebsk region during the Great Patriotic War, commander of the "Alexey" partisan brigade, Hero of the Soviet Union Alexey Danukalov, was solemnly unveiled on the house at No. 1 Danukalov Street in the district center.
In early July 1941, political instructor Danukalov, along with soldiers of the tank division, fought fierce battles against the Nazi invaders near Lepel. He was one of the youngest brigade commanders: when he died on April 27, 1944, in the village of Velikiye Doltsy, Ushachsky district, he was only 28. In 1946, the remains of Alexey Danukalov were reburied in the square on Freedom Square in Lepel. Streets in Vitebsk, Lepel, Liozno, and Ushachi are named in honor of the legendary partisan commander.
“It is important that the updated memorial plaque was made not with budget funds, but with people's money collected at a community work day. It is also important that we remember these heroes not only on anniversary dates, but also on weekdays,” emphasized the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev.
The long-awaited Center for Social, Labor, Social and Domestic, and Physical Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons at the day care department of the territorial center for social services for the population is a joint project of the Lepel District Executive Committee, the charitable organizations "House Instead of Chernobyl" and "EcoStroitel" with the financial support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation (Germany). About 163 thousand euros were allocated from the district budget, and the German side contributed more than 300 thousand euros.
The building was constructed using eco-friendly technology. Wood chips, clay, reed boards for insulation, and other natural materials were used in its construction.
The day care unit for people with disabilities has moved to the center, which previously occupied four small rooms at the Territorial Center for Social Services. The unit is attended by 50 people, 11 of whom are from rural areas. In total, there are over 800 people with disabilities of the first and second groups living in the district.
The project is very important for the district, as the expansion of the day care unit's premises will increase the accessibility of assistance to people with disabilities, primarily by creating new places, and will also open new clubs and rehabilitation courses.

The center will house rehabilitation and labor workshops where people with disabilities will learn to care for plants and master the secrets of floristry, make souvenirs and weave beads, learn sewing, and acquire skills necessary in everyday life: cooking, repairing and washing clothes.
It will be possible to work out on exercise machines with an instructor-methodologist. There is a computer class, rooms for recreation and events. All premises are equipped with furniture and equipment.

Those disabled individuals who master sewing, printing, and sublimation printing will be able to fulfill feasible orders from enterprises and organizations or try their hand at individual labor activities.
– This center is unique in its kind in Belarus. It is unique both in its size (in TCGSONs, it is most often a few rooms) and in the complexity of rehabilitation. Usually, it is mainly club work, but here the focus is on professional rehabilitation, so that for those who want to work, disability does not become a sentence, – said the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Rumak.
As is customary, guests who arrived for the opening of the center gave gifts. A check for 500 euros was presented by the head of the charitable organization "Homes instead of Chernobyl" Shill Edelraut, and the chairman of the regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev – a certificate for 2000 rubles.
The food service areas of the district's educational institutions met the academic year with renovations
In the schools of the villages of Borovka and Zaslonovo, and kindergarten No. 9 in Lepel, current repairs of the canteens have been completed. They have been equipped with modern energy-efficient and high-performance technological equipment – combi ovens, potato peelers, bread slicers, electric meat grinders, dishwashers, and vegetable cutters. More than 322 thousand rubles were spent on the repair of food service areas and equipment.
– This will significantly reduce production costs and improve the quality of food for students and kindergarten pupils, – noted the Deputy Chairman of the Lepel District Executive Committee Viktor Azaronok.
The district House of Culture also opened its doors after renovation
A part of the roof has been renovated here, and in the auditorium, the floor, ceiling, stage curtains, and seats have been replaced. Cosmetic repairs have been made in the offices. In addition, the RDC received new sound and lighting equipment.
– This cost about 300 thousand rubles from the district budget. The next step is to repair the rest of the roof, – said Viktor Vladimirovich.
In the renovated House of Culture, artists from the district center performed for the guests, and finally, the familiar song "Charka na passashok" was played, which was written 20 years ago by the composer and native of Lepel, Alexander Bolotnik.
