Centralized testing has started in the Vitebsk region
According to **Alexander Suvorov, Head of the Vitebsk Regional Testing Center**, almost 29 thousand person-tests will be conducted in the region. This is almost 5 thousand less than last year. The exact number of applicants is not specified by the center, as last year's CT certificates are valid and many applicants take fewer than the three exams required for university admission. Some applicants, on the contrary, take CT with a reserve – since 2017, it has been possible to take 4 exams.
Traditionally, Russian language is the most in-demand (7.4 thousand people take it in the region), followed by mathematics (4.3 thousand) and foreign languages. However, only 137 people plan to take geography, 133 – world history, 12 – Spanish, and 3 – Chinese.
The last day of CT is July 2. In case of absence from exams on the main days for valid reasons, there is an opportunity to re-register for reserve days (July 6, 8, 10) – this is possible only at VSTU from July 3 to July 3. Reserve CT will be held at BSU.
In one of his recent interviews, **Yuri Miksyuk, Director of the Republican Institute for Knowledge Control (RIKC)**, noted that there would be no significant changes in the content of this year's tests.
— The task is set: the tests must comply with the curriculum, – he emphasized. – For example, if the material in a textbook is only for familiarization, then it will not be included in the tests. The focus is on the main material, so as not to "catch" applicants off guard.
By the way, the passing scores have increased this year. For example, for the Belarusian and Russian languages, you need to score 10 points or more. For specialties of the philological profile – at least 25 (the threshold has increased by 5 points). For the first subject of the profile test – mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology – 20 points or more. For the history of Belarus, world history, social studies, geography, and foreign languages – from 25 (increased by 5 points).
For the second subject of the profile test – mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology – the passing score is 10 or more. For the history of Belarus, world history, geography, and foreign languages – 15.
Minimum thresholds are also set for admission to universities under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Border Committee, to military faculties, for specialties "Production, storage, and processing of crop production," "Animal husbandry, fish farming, beekeeping," "Rural construction and territory development," "Melioration and water management," "Agroengineering."
Applicants must score at least 6 points in all subjects taken.
The acceptance of documents for state-funded and fee-paying places in most state universities will take place from July 12 to July 17, and entrance examinations (some universities also have internal exams) – from July 18 to July 24.
