Church domes began to be made in Novopolotsk
Church domes have started to be made in Novopolotsk, as reported to BelTA correspondent by Andrey Demeshchenko, head of the metal structures section of construction department No. 126, a branch of OJSC "Treст №16 г.Новополоцк".
This unusual work for modern tinsmiths was mastered in the workshop at the request of Archbishop Feodosiy of Polotsk and Glubokoye. The diocese has 126 churches, many of which are being restored and repaired. Replacing domes on some of them is a necessity. As it turned out, finding a manufacturer of church domes in Belarus is not easy, so the archbishop turned to the Novopolotsk builders for help.
The work was undertaken by a team of tinsmiths led by Andrey Makarov, winner of the Novopolotsk city labor prize "Golden Hands," who had worked for several years at the "Vitebskrestavratsiya" enterprise. In three weeks, they manufactured a dome 4.9 m high and 4.5 m in diameter for the Church of St. Tikhon in the village of Farinovo. The customer liked the work, the dome was consecrated, and another dome was ordered from the tinsmiths for the belfry.
As noted by Andrey Demeshchenko, manufacturing domes is not simple work. However, the metal structures workshop does not intend to refuse it. They are ready to make domes for any church.
